Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year!
Welcome back RETURNING WVCTE Members!
And a special welcome to our NEW WVCTE members!
Classes around the state (and the country) are finally back in session…
And we at WVCTE are gearing up for what looks to be the most exciting year for our young affiliate yet! Last year was an extraordinary year for West Virginia teachers and WVCTE. From winning a website of excellence award to co-hosting our first ever state conference, the WVCTE community has been revitalized and energized and is looking forward to an exciting year.
As you forge bravely ahead (like a barnacle goose chick) into a new school year, be sure to take advantage of the collaboration opportunities WVCTE has to offer. We are building this community of educators together to make our teaching, our classrooms, our students, ourselves, and our West Virginia stronger.
Check out what’s up and coming this year in the WVCTE Community:

March 29-30, 2019: WVELA19, A West Virginia For All: Creating Diverse and Inclusive ELA Classrooms
We are thrilled to once again be co-hosting the WVELA Conference with NWP@WVU. This year’s conference will focus on diversity, and is already shaping up to be an extraordinary event. In addition to master teachers from around the state and country sharing sessions, we are beyond excited to be featuring the following guest speakers:
This upcoming year is ringing with anticipation!
But the thing I’m most looking forward to?
Watching the English teachers of West Virginia continue to connect and grow into a formidable community. Not only last year’s WVCTE successes, but also the extraordinary Teacher Work Action of February and March have proven that the West Virginia teacher is mighty. It will be in our classrooms that we make West Virginia (and the world) the place we all know it can be.
So welcome back and if you’re new, welcome to this incredible movement and this community. Let’s make 2018-2019 the best school year yet.
WVCTE is wondering….
What are YOU looking forward to this year? Will we see you at our conference in March? Find us on Facebook, email, or tweet us and let us know how we can connect!
